Class B Air-Conditioning Contractor-HVAC

A “Class B Air-Conditioning Contractor” means a contractor whose services are limited to 25 tons of cooling and 500,000 BTU of heating in any one system in the execution of contracts requiring the experience, knowledge, and skill to install, maintain, repair, fabricate, alter, extend, or design central air-conditioning, refrigeration, heating, and ventilating systems, including duct work in connection with a complete system. A “class B air-conditioning contractor” shall not perform any work such as liquefied petroleum or natural gas fuel lines within buildings, potable water lines or connections, sanitary sewer lines, swimming pool piping and filters, or electrical power wiring. 

  • Anyone seeking to become an Air Conditioning Contractor in Florida is required to sit for two exams, business and finance and the technical.
  • Applicants must have four years of experience  within the scope of the license. One of the experience years must be in a supervisory role.
  • Be older than 18 years of age.
  • Have good moral character, this means not having outstanding debts with society.
  • Have a Social Security Number.
  • Demonstrate financial responsibility.

 

GENERAL CONTRACTOR IN FLORIDA

A “General Contractor” means a contractor whose services are unlimited as to the type of work which he or she may do. A General contractor is responsible for the complete execution of the construction work. Its range is unlimited in terms of capacity and complexity of the projects that build. The general
contractor can build, alter, and renew any building and structure. This license enables to direct and take responsibility in building, qualify a company and participate as a partner in the company. One of the most important benefits of this license is that it allows to hire any specialising in different areas of construction. A general contractor can work in any county or city of the State of Florida without the need to obtain a local licence.

To become a State Certified Contractor in Florida, you must:

  • Be older than 18 years of age.
  • Have at least 4 years of experience in the area where you wish to obtain the license, of which 1 year you must be in supervisory activities such as Foreman. It is important to know that at least one year of experience should be in buildings of four or more stories in height. Up to three years of experience can be replaced with a higher education title. College or University titles are valid for experience validations.
  • Have good moral character, this means not having outstanding debts with society.
  • Demonstrate financial responsibility.
  • Have a Social Security number.
  • Approve two types of examination: A business and finance examination, and 2 technical examinations.

Florida Irrigation Contractor License

An “Irrigation Specialty Contractor” is a contractor whose contracting business consists of the execution of contracts requiring the experience, financial means, knowledge, and skill to install, maintain, repair, alter, extend, manage, monitor, audit, or, if not prohibited by law, design irrigation systems. An irrigation specialty contractor may install, maintain, repair, alter, extend, manage, monitor, audit, or, if not prohibited by law, design irrigation systems, including any excavation work incidental thereto.

An irrigation system includes all: piping; fittings; sprinklers; drip irrigation products; valves; irrigation controllers; control wiring; rain sensors; water pumps; water conservation devices; water harvesting systems; irrigation main lines downstream of a utility potable water meter or utility alternative water supply distribution line and dedicated backflow prevention device; and associated components installed for the delivery and application of water for the purpose of irrigation. Nothing in this rule shall be deemed to restrict or limit in any manner the scope of work authorized by law of other contractor classifications.

The first phase begins with the preparation of the books. We select the most important subjects of the examination. This work is done before starting the course, through our web page.
Once the books are finished with our exclusive system, the second phase begins. In this phase, classes are developed over several weeks depending on the type of course and the school’s schedule. We cover all areas that will appear on the exam. The third phase consists of seminars held every week, where the skills and knowledge necessary to pass the exam are practiced and improved. What are the requirements to get a Florida contractors license?There are two types of Florida contractor licenses: Certified and Registered.

Depending on the type of license you wish to obtain, there are different requirements. 

Being a registered contractor allows you to work only in a county or municipality. Registered contractors must meet local requirements for counties or municipalities and obtain a local competency card and occupational license.

If, instead, you wish to be able to work anywhere in Florida you will need to be certified, for which you will have to pass the Florida contractors exam, be older than 18 years of age, demonstrate financial responsibility, have good moral character, and provide proof of experience within the scope of the license.
